South of the Smokies on the Appalachian Trail are the long climbs of the Stecoah-Cheoah Mountain area, then the outstanding Nantahala section, with 4,000-foot gaps and 5,000-foot peaks. Cheoah Bald offers panoramic views of western North Carolina. Like much of the A.T. in the deep South, you have a feeling of remoteness, and a sensation of being in deep forests. The variety of forest growth and the beauty of the flowering shrubs, along with the many spectacular views, make this entire section of Trail memorable.
Outstanding scenery and recreational opportunities make the Blue Ridge Parkway one of the most popular units of the National Park System. "America's Favorite Drive" winds its way 469 miles through mountain meadows and past seemingly endless vistas. Split-rail fences, old farmsteads and historic structures complement spectacular views of distant mountains and neighboring valleys.

From Our Chairman
At First Citizens Bank, our values have been the basis of the way we’ve done business for more than a century. By understanding and embracing these values, the bank has been able to focus on the needs of our customers and build strong relationships that last a lifetime.
The foundation of these values is integrity. To First Citizens Bank, integrity means focusing on the needs of each individual customer, not on mergers and acquisitions. And it means providing sound financial advice based on the customers’ needs, not ours. Our common sense approach to doing business comes from our century of experience. We know that listening to our customers is the first step in helping them achieve their financial goals and that no two customers’ needs are the same. We also value consistency, because consistency builds trust. Doing business the same way for more than a century means that customers trust that the bank we are today is the bank we’ll be tomorrow – and that’s important in building long-term relationships.
First Citizens Bank’s values are, and will always be, the foundation of our relationship with our customers. You can count on the bank to provide sound financial answers for your personal and business needs – today and tomorrow.

If you are an angler or just a lover of the outdoors, you will absolutely love the Little Tennessee River between Franklin and its confluence with Lake Fontana. If God made a more beautiful section of mountain river, I have yet to see it.
